In a press briefing held in Dar es Salaam, the NESSA Foundation, in collaboration with the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), announced a powerful new initiative aimed at preserving the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro through education and environmental action.
The Foundation revealed plans for a series of special hiking events around the mountain, designed to raise public awareness on the importance of conservation and reforestation. The hikes also serve as a fundraising campaign to support large-scale environmental restoration.
Speaking at the conference, NESSA Foundation’s Executive Director, Ms. Debora Nyakisinda, emphasized the vision to plant up to one billion trees in the Kilimanjaro region and neighboring areas including Tanga, Manyara, and Arusha.
“This initiative is about restoring ecosystems, building awareness, and ensuring that future generations can experience the beauty and benefits of Mount Kilimanjaro,” said Ms. Nyakisinda.
The project invites communities, environmental advocates, organizations, and individuals to be part of one of Tanzania’s largest grassroots conservation movements.
